Dusty let the swish of the government doors open around her and began the walk across the lobby to the elevator doors. She looked behind her again to make sure Karuri was still following, she had been strangely silent the whole way to the government building. "Are you well Karuri?" Dusty said slowing her pace to let Karuri walk with her instead of behind, "I am sure Mr. Babek is a kind man, and you only have a few months before you turn 18 anyway." She stopped in front of the elevator doors and pushed the up button.

Karuri was kind of quiet and she held on to her suit case tightly. She felt sort of like she was 12 again.
"I'm sure he is very nice, he seemd very nice while we were making the tea." She said nodding.

She smiled softly down at Karuri and stepped into the elevator once it arrived. "Once we arrive at level Y, you should stay close to me. We don't want the security system to mistake you for an intruder." They stood in silence waiting for the elevator to stop, "I was only 15 when I came to Eastern Gate, so I realize how you feel. Everything that is familiar to you is being taken away and now you have to fend for yourself. You just have to trust yourself and realize that this is all going in to make you a better person. We are all doing what is best for you Karuri."

"Yes I know" Karuri said calmly. "I do realize that if I didn't cooperate, it would simply make things worse. No matter how much I want things to be like before... that just isn't enough for me to justify making things worse." She said honestly. "Besides, you're being very nice about it and for a government official you're much nicer than I expected a government official to be. It sort of proves that I can't judge a person by their uniform."
Karuri gave Dusty a kind smile. Perhaps several months wouldn't be so bad, only several months until her freedom would be returned to her...

"Well thank you, I try to save my mean self for only certain times." She waited for the elevator to stop and walked out, "Now remember to stay close, my office is right down there." She said pointing in front of her, "Then all I need to do is enter you into the system and then send you on your way to Mr. Babek's." She waited for Karuri to step out of the elevator before continuing on their way.

"Alright" Karuri said. She took a step out of the elevator and took Dusty's advice to stay close to her. No sense in making certain sensors detect a "non-exsistant" intruder.

Dusty continued on her way down the hallway after Karuri stepped out of the elevator. She stopped at her office door and swiped her card through the reader and the door swished open, "Here we are." She stepped through the door and walked towards her desk "You can set your bag where ever you would feel comfortable leaving it, then please sit down in one of the chairs in front of my desk so I can begin filling out the form." She sat down in her large leather chair and put a small metal piece in the middle of each hand, which activated her desk. She clicked on a folder and pulled open a blank document. "Could I please have your ID card?" She said holding out her hand.

She sat down in one of the chairs, setting her suit case down next to her. She handed Dusty her ID card.
"Here it is"

She swiped the ID card through the reader attached to her desk and pulled up Karuri's information. "Thank you." She said holding the card out but not looking up. Dusty began quickly transferring information to the sheet and within a few minutes was done. "You are now entered into the system. I assume within a few days we will be receiving candidates." She smiled and took the two metal disks from her hands, which shut down her desk. "Unless there is anything else you wish to speak to me about I can bring you back down to the lobby. But I have many reports to finish so I am not sure if I will be able to bring you to Mr. Babek's store. I am sure you can find it just fine."

She took the card carefully from Dusty's hand.
"Thank you, I think after you bring me back down to the lobby I'll be fine to go to Mr. Babek's place." Karuri said kindly, getting out of her seat. "And Thank you again, for being so nice to me."

Dusty stood up from her desk, straightening out her suit. "Alright well, I can bring you back downstairs." She walked across her office and opened up her door, "Now if you will just follow me we can be on our way. Remember to stay close." It was nice that Karuri had been pleasant about the whole situation, but she seemed to okay with it. If any teenager she knew was put into this whole deal, they would have been bouncing off the walls with anger. But oh well, if that is the kind of person Karuri was, then all the more to her.

Karuri picked up her bag and followed Dusty. Along the way she decided to start a conversation with her.
"Ms. McCleary... may I ask... what were your parents like?" She had never stopped missing her own parents, she wanted to know what it was like again to actually have parents.

Dusty quickly turned around to look at Karuri, she was surprised and slightly taken back by the question, "Excuse me? My parents?" She rolled her eyes and walked into the hallway. "They were selfish people and cared only of themselves and trying to make their children exactly like them. They wanted to keep us in a sheltered environment where the only people we could be around was them and our siblings. They knew nothing of real love or caring for their children." Dusty's eyes had become glazed over but she shook her head and looked back to make sure Karuri was following "Hopefully your new parents will be better than mine."

"Oh..." Karuri responded. "I'm sorry to hear that." She felt a little bad for asking.
"I hope I didn't make you frustrated by asking... " She said to her, observing that she had seemed a bit upset about thinking about her parents. She continued to follow Dusty, not leaving her for one distraction.

She stopped at the elevator door and looked to Karuri, "No you didn't make me frustrated, I just don't like talking about them very much. They were the main reason I joined the Interstellar Government." She pushed the button and waited for the elevator to arrive, "I saw in your information that you had parents, what happened to them? I am very surprised that the government didn't contact you once they passed."
