Ruhk happily took the closest unoccupied seat to Anthong and took one of the tea cups. “You sure you don’t want any? I guarantee it’ll taste great.” In his own cup he had poured a small vial of some sort of liquid taken from another hidden pocket on his person. From up his sleeve he pulled out a spoon and began stirring in his own concoction into the hot water. “So why the hurry with the official information gathering stuff? Everyone seemed much too stressed out for their own good.”

“Perhaps another time sir,” Anthong murmured as he took he seat. He flicked his wrists in sharp motions, causing holographic displays to appear a few millimeters from his gloves. With practiced movements he sifted through the material, sliding various documents across his gloves and hovering over others to bring up further information.
After a few minutes of silent work Anthong sniffed and carefully placed the pile back together in front of Karuri. “Ms. Zanshatama... Your school is not in the government registry, but all of the seals and electronic certificates are in order so it is not a problem. However, all of it is void.”

Dusty gladly accepted the cup of tea Karuri handed her, "Thank you." She said smiling. She quickly blew some of the hot air away from the cup, took a long sip and then sighed with delight. "It seems I forgotten how wonderful kugali really is." She smiled to herself thinking Going home to Estrea for a while would be a good way to disappear for a while, and I do really need to use up my vacation time.
She watched Anthong sift through his holographic material trying to pick up something useful here or there. She wanted to know more about what Mr. Sin's job and duties. When he had finished and said the documents were void, she was slightly surprised. Even though she had never been in the dojo it had been around since she had first arrived and she found it hard to believe that it all was fake.

Karuri glanced up at Anthong with confusion. She took a sip of her tea and placed it down on the coaster.
"What exactly do you mean by... it is all void?" She said to Anthong. "How...how could it not be in the government records?" She looked at him with pondering eyes.
"And... if this is so... is it fixable?"

Ruhk chirped with excitement as he scooted to the edge of his seat. “Oooo~ void? Sounds like drama to me, I do like a good story.” The stubby wings on his back had started lightly flapping. The feathers acted much like a tail would on a dog; wagged when happy, kept low and flat when sad. Though if anyone actually told Ruhk this, chances are he’d turn it into a raunchy joke involving doggy-style and quite a few suggestive winks.

“It’s quite simple really,” Anthong started taking his scroll off the table and tucking it beneath his arm. “While you were emancipated after your foster parents died, you are not 18. All of these papers were signed off station.” He leaned over and pointed to a few signatures. “Central office considers these legal. But Eastern Gate has its own rules aside from the government, as you all are so proud of. Listed in the rules is a small sub-section that does not recognize anyone under the age of 18 as an adult. In short, until July 12th I believe, you cannot hold a lease on EG and you should be living with a legal guardian.”
Anthong tapped a few keys on his gloves and displayed a large calendar. “As you see, today is January 22nd, Earth Solar Cycle; twelfth day of the 14th moon for Avige,” Anthong nodded at Ruhk and frowned politely at Dusty. “Unfortunately, I do not know Estrean time.”
“Major McCleary, perhaps you can be of assistance. Ms. Zanshatama here needs a legal guardian. It would not be a problem for you to set up the lease to be transferred to the new guardian.” Anthong handed over the scroll he had to Dusty. “And there is not a problem for her to be a private tutor as long as she creates a new contract acknowledging her new guardians’ absolution of legal responsibility over any incidents. And so on.” Anthnong offered to Karuri.
“Now sir,” Anthong turned to Ruhk, business suddenly complete. “What was the light tea again?”

She took the scroll from Anthong and quickly looked at the information on it. "Of course I can. I am sure many will step forward to be the honored parents of a daughter like Karuri." She smiled towards Karuri. "You really have nothing to worry about, the whole process is quite simple. If you wish it so when you are 18 (and a legal adult under Eastern Gate's government) you can...oh I don't know the word... cancel the parentage that your new foster parents will have over you. But again there is really nothing to worry about, we will find a perfect home for you." She put the scroll into one of the pockets on her belt and quickly blew on her tea before she took a sip.
"That is quite all right Mr.Sin, Estreans have a strange time system. I could explain it all at another time but right now I am sure that it would take to long for anyone's liking."

She smiled back at Dusty for her kindness.
"Can I still have foster parents and stay here?" Karuri asked. "And still run the dojo?"
She didn't really worry about the foster care as much as not being able to run her dojo and most of all stay on easterngate.

Ruhk poured Anthong a cup of the tea and handed it over to him with his usual flirty grin. “It’s called Gua tea. It’s really nothing other then tasty.” Turning to Karuri, Ruhk turned his grin from flirty to something that could almost be called demeaning. The kind of smile that an adult would give to a confused little kid asking where her mommy was. “I don’t know all that much about the laws and how they work since I’m a business man, but I think he meant that your foster parents would own the dojo until you were old enough to run it yourself. I’d also guess that you’d go live with them, and not here.”

“Thank you sir,” Anthong took the offered tea and held it to his face. He breathed in the warm aroma and took a sip. “Hmmm,” Anthong started before taking a second sip. “Very smooth, no bitterness. An exceptional blend and well brewed; my thanks.”
Anthong set his cup back down before glaring a little at Karuri. “I do not believe you understand. Of course this place will close down. No one holds the lease. We should leave soon, but since there are three adults here to watch over you, you need not worry. The major can place you in protective custody until foster parents can be arranged. Our Avige sir is correct. It will be up to your foster parents as to what happens next. They may allow you to teach privately as I previously mentioned or… Well, I am no parent, so I cannot venture to say what will happen next. But you will not be running this dojo until you are eighteen.”
“Oh,” he picked up his cup again but halted it just before his lips. “Please give Major McCleary the keys, your weapons, and all your documentation before we leave. She already holds this places legal lease.” Anthong nodded at the scroll he had handed Dusty. “I am sorry we added this to your workload Dusty.”

She took another sip of her tea before speaking "It is quite all right Anthong, I would be more than happy to do this case. Now Karuri," She said turning to face her "after we all finish this pleasant tea party I will have to confiscate your weapons and documents, like Mr. Sin has just said. But then you will follow me to the government controlled building and I will find someone who will be willing to look over you until someone steps forward to be your foster parents."
She sighed and set her cup on the table. Hopefully nothing turned ugly with this case, she had only done these kind of cases when she was acting as counselor for about a month or two four years ago. She would try to do her best at it but she might also just hand the case over to a social worker. It would all depend on how Karuri acted and she did not look like she was happy at all with the situation. It would be terrible if she had to take her away in restraints.

Karuri looked down and bit her lip. She first handed Dusty her Sakabato in it's sheath carefully.
"Please be especially careful with this one... it was my father's" She wiped a tear from her eye and headed to the cabinet and began to unpack all the weapons in her cabinet. She suddenly felt a great cloud of depression hanging over her head. She had to wait about another 7 months before the Dojo would be hers again. She hoped that her foster parents would be nice and not too strict. Most of all she hoped they'd be nice as her parents were. She felt like she had lost half of her self.

For once Ruhk let his grin slip away as he watched the mood turn terribly sour. “It’s a bit different for Avige, on our home planet we become a legal age at 13 rather then 18. I’m 23, so I’ve been a legal adult by my race’s standards for quite awhile.” He was technically talking to everyone, but he seemed to be directing the information more towards Dusty and Anthong. He finished off his tea before getting to the point, just to give everyone a slight moment to log the information away. “So if you need someone too look after her until you find some parents for Little Miss Z, I’d be more then willing to help. Grandfather and I could always use some help around the shop since we seem to be a sort of hospital to everyone rather then just a apothecary.”
His flirty grin returned as he turned to Anthong. “My name is Ruhk, by the way. Ruhk Babek. Not ‘Avige sir’.”

“Well it is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Babek.” Anthong set down his teacup and offered his hand. “I have not been on this station long so I have not yet met all the citizens or guests. How did you learn to make such an exceptional blend?”
His normally empty face was passive but hints of general emotions were flickering past. Obviously, Anthong was done with Karuri having passed the next step to the person in charge. He showed not an ounce of remorse towards Karuri’s situation, just the cold logic of his job.

She carefully set the blade down on the table and turned to Ruhk "That would be very helpful Mr. Babek, as long as you and your grandfather don't mind taking care of her for a couple days while we find a suitable home. Karuri will still have to come with me after this so I can enter her into the system and let a social worker know about it, but then she can arrive in your care."
It looked like nothing was going to go wrong. Right now things seemed to be going rather well. Ruhk had offered to take care of Karuri while the government found a home and Karuri didn't seem like she was going to make too much of a fuss. She swallowed the rest of her tea and said "We should probably leave soon Karuri. We all want this process to get over with as soon as possible I think. Oh and you may want to leave an announcement on the door if you have any other customers coming today."
