“It tastes like grapes you say.” Anthong dismissed Karuri’s question for a moment to listen to Ruhk. “I am generally not a fan of fruit based teas, but I must admit a curiosity.”
“Do you have a place the Major and I may sit while you and this young man make tea? When you can join us, I will require proof of identification, your teaching license, your current lease, proof of education and your exotic weapons permit. Yes, I believe that will be enough to get started.” Anthong patiently stood alert, and except for his query to Ruhk, was expressionless.

"Fruit tea sounds great. I once had a grape when I was young and I very much enjoyed the taste of them, it would be a great pleasure if you would allow me to drink some of your tea Ruhk." Her eyes sparkled with a smile towards him.
This time Dusty looked more closely around the dojo, looking for table or any sliding doors that may lead to another room where Karuri would want Anthong and her to go. She was becoming slightly nervous to be alone with Anthong again...yes it was fine the first time but now she was going to talk to him about something that really mattered to her (her position and influence in the Interstellar government). Who knew maybe he wouldn't understand, or wouldn't care. She sighed loudly without really noticing, her mind was on other things. This is nothing to get so worried about Dusty...anyway you might get your chance to ask him out....ugh but that could go badly too she said talking to herself (inside her mind of course).

Karuri nodded, showing Anthong and Dusty to a back room that had 2 nice couches and 3 comfortable looking chairs, it had a nice coffee table in the center made of clear glass and the place was nice and tidy.
"Ruhk, do you mind joining me back here in my kitchen to help me prepare some tea since you have some special spare tea bags?" She said smiling.

Ruhk smiled and happily followed Karuri. Once there he knelt and pulled up his pant leg revealing several pockets and pouches tightly belted to his leg, none of which showed when his slightly baggy pants were down. “So just the grape ones you think? Because I have kugali tea as well, it helps boost immunity and it’s good for canker sores.” He flipped though one of the smaller pouches, which still held a considerable amount of flat unlabeled white packets of unknown ingredients, before finally pulling out a few teabags.

Anthong nodded to Karuri and took a seat in one of the chairs. Once Karuri and Ruhk left for the kitchen Anthong spoke to Dusty. "I am not sure how long they will be. Can I help you in the mean time?" He leaned over and placed the scroll on the coffee table, waiting for Dusty to speak.

She nodded and sat in the chair across from Anthong. "Thank you for taking the time to see me on such short notice Mr. Sin." She crossed her legs and put her hair behind her ear that had fallen in her face when she had sat down.
"I have recently become very concerned about the whole situation concerning Colonel Sun. You may not know much about the situation since you are new here yourself, but I would still like your opinion about it." She shifted in her seat and uncrossed her legs. "The higher officers from headquarters seem to think that Colonel Sun is never going to return to Eastern Gate, they believe he might have abandoned this Gate because it is to be shut down soon." She sighed, she would miss this Gate once it was shut down. It had been her home for more than seven years, and she loved everything (or almost everything) about it.
"Now the higher officers are thinking of either sending a new officer here who would become our new Colonel or promoting me. I believe that both choices would become a disaster for Eastern Gate. Sending a new officer wouldn't help the problem because they won't know all the locals and customs or really fit into the whole environment, which I think will make the fighting between the government and rebels become even worse." She set her hands on the table, interlocking them. Since she had sat down her nervousness was dissipating but still making her uncomfortable. She thought in the beginning that a comfortable spot in the chair would calm her down...but she was not finding a comfortable spot anywhere.
"I find it a great honor to even be considered to be the new Colonel of Eastern Gate, but I realize that it would include even more workload. I am already up to my neck in reports and trying to keep all the soldiers at least some what happy. I don't think that I would be able to handle all the extra work that would need to be put into this new position and I don't believe that the higher officers understand that."
She looked across to Anthong and said "I'm sorry Mr. Sin I seem to let myself go. I just didn't have anyone else to talk to this problem about and I thought that you would be the most understanding. I would greatly appreciate your opinion."

Karuri grabbed the files Anthong required and looked at Ruhk.
"Well," Karuri said "Let's just try the fruit tea for everyone, shall we?"
She poured some hot water into a nice tea cup for everyone, setting the tea cups on a tray.

Ruhk grinned and kept the extra teabags out. “Kugali is a fruit, silly. Just not from earth, originated Estrea I believe. Dusty looks like an Estrean, maybe I should ask her if I remembered my facts correctly. But maybe we should let them decide? Maybe everyone doesn‘t want a buzz at this hour in the day?”

Anthong listened carefully to what Dusty he said. As she finished, he leaned back in his chair and crossed his legs in a slow, deliberate movement. “That is a conundrum. As you know, I am not military so I have no say in the matter, but I understand your stress.”
He took in a great breath and released it in a slow sigh. “Dusty,” he used her first name purposely, “you will not like what I am about to say. You are too young. I have read up on you and yes, you are very skilled and could probably handle the workload that would be forced upon you. Suggest a few secondary promotions to fill in for your loss and take on a few privates for assistants and you could handle the station. But that is not the point.”
“You do not have the deep space experience to understand what is starting here on Eastern Gate. As we, the government, begin to shut down the station the ‘rebels’ will become a serious problem. Threat or not, I cannot say.” Anthong stared hard into Dusty eyes as he finished his thought. “Besides, you have too much invested in the people here.”
“I would decline the invitation and become invisible for awhile if I were you. You will be giving the Council more work and they in general do not appreciate that. And pray to any higher power you believe in that they do not demote you for refusing to step up. On a side note, if you feel swamped already, take on a private or new government lackey for help. It is in your authority.”
“Now,” Anthong’s face had been hard but honest; however, as Ruhk and Karuri returned to the room it became icily blank. “Back to the original business at hand.”

She noted that Ruhk and Karuri had walked into the room and nodded towards Anthong. "Thank you for your comments. I still have to follow what I believe is right but I will deeply take in to consideration what you have just shared with me. Thank you for your honesty."
She moved her attentions to Ruhk and the tea "Now lets enjoy this wonderful tea that Karuri and Ruhk have been so kind to make for us." Her mood had become quite somber, she knew that she would have to decline the offer and hopefully her upper officer allies would agree with her and fight to not have her demoted. Anthong was completely right...she needed to be no one for a while.
It made her disappointed and tired that she was in this position to begin with, she was surprised when headquarters told her that Colonel Sun was not coming back to Eastern Gate. She had thought she was doing his job well and then he had just disappeared forever. She leaned against the back on the chair and pushed this matter into the back of her mind for the moment, she needed to try to have at least a little fun enjoying the tea.
She slightly smiled to herself as well, Its too bad that I wont be able to ask Anthong the other matter on my mind. She looked over to Anthong. Maybe she would have another chance later.

Karuri entered the room, slightly smiling. She had the tea on a tray that was on wheels so she could hold the information that Anthong needed in her other arm.
"We have several choices of tea," Karuri said "Ruhk, could you kindly tell them the choices of tea they have? You know a lot more about the tea then I do."

Ruhk’s ever present grin beamed as he proudly displayed various teabags, the two flavors he had started with plus a few others he had grabbed from other pockets while Karuri had been placing it all on the cart. “I would love to explain! First off we have the grape flavored tea for an energy boost, Kugali tea to help immunity, Marro tea for extra calcium, and Gua tea which does nothing, but tastes really simple and light if you don’t like fruit teas or creamy teas.”

Anthong stood up shortly after Karuri and Ruhk entered the room. “An interesting assortment of teas there sir. And you carried all of them on your person? Curious.” He looked over Ruhk before turning to Karuri.
“Thank you, but I do not care for any refreshments at this time. I would like to finish the task I came here for. I do no mind an audience.” Anthong waited patiently for Karuri and Ruhk to sit down before he reseated himself.

Dusty listened quietly while Ruhk explained the teas but smiled in excitement when he announced that he also had Kugali. "You have kugali? I haven't had any kugali since I left Estrea, if you don't mind I would rather have that. It has just been so long."
She was beginning to miss Estrea...even though she disliked her family, she loved her planet and thought it beauty would never compare to anything. Maybe it would soon be time for her to go back since Eastern Gate would be shutting down. "After tea I should probably be leaving soon. I have to at least decrease my pile of reports."

Karuri placed the information that Anthong asked for on the table.
"Here's what you asked for." Karuri said. She poured Dusty some of the tea she requested and placed her cup on a coaster in front of her for her. "Here's your tea miss. Careful though, it's quite hot. "
