((ooc: Oi! I may have stopped dancing but I didn’t leave. Let me post!))
Ue had been about to rush to Sollie’s aid when Krenz offered a hand. Instead she spun about the fountain’s edge closest to the pair. “I didn’t know ya humans knew each other. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything. It’s just that I’ve never been in a forest before and had to celebrate it somehow.”
Without waiting for a response, Ue changed subject. “Has either of ya two been to a real forest before? And are real forests that much different than Eastern Gate’s one?”

((ooc mod post: As mentioned on the other board with more then two active posters, please form an order then stick to it. No posting until it's your turn, or until the person ahead of you actually leaves the board. If you really want to post something, please either contact the person who you are waiting on, or go to a different thread.
the order seems to be Ue and Bi, then Sollie, then Krenz. So be kind and wait before you go))

((ooc: sorry, sorry! *Humbly begs forgiveness to Ue and Mirror*))
Sollie turned around. She had forgotten that Ue was still there.
"Oh! Well, um...it depends on the forest, really. Some have different kinds of trees, and different kinds of animals. It just depends on where you are. I'm sure this kind of forest could be found somewhere else, too. But they're all cubic. If you stand in a prairie or a desert, you know you're in a big space. If you stand in a forest, you only sense it."

Krenz sat at the edge of the fountain with his feet dangling in the water. He looked around the forest, admiring it's very existance.
"It sure is a beautiful forest..." He said calmly.

"Is it a beautiful forest?" Ue shrieked happily, like a young child. She walked along the fountain rim to Krenz, scooping a foot along the water to splash him. "I think it is too."
Ue ran away from Krenz before he could strike back, skipping to a halt near Sollie. “So, do ya two know each other?” Chatty she may be, but they hadn’t answered her previous question, so she restated it. “I’m new here. Delivered something to that moody teen over at the tavern and now I’m just wandering about. Is Eastern Gate a good place to set up shop? Many people in need of a shipper slash delivery girl?”

"No, we don't know each other," Sollie blurted out before Krenz could answer. She immediately felt foolish after she'd said it. She'd spoken too quickly, and she felt sure that Ue was one of those people who could tell when someone was lying.
"A-and...Eastern Gate's all right," she said, changing the subject, "I'm sure you're very good at what you do; it's possible to find just about any kind of work here, if you keep an eye open. Oh, and don't worry about Mirror...she has a rough exterior, but she's rather fun once you get to know her...or so I've been told."

Krenz looked oddly at Sollie when she had blurted out 'No, we don't know each other'; he gave her one of those 'are you sure we've never met before?' looks. Krenz continued dangling his feet in the water and wondered why she'd be so worried about if we'd met before. Then he remembered the 'incident' and kept quiet.

Ue stared at Krenz and Sollie for a minute then frowned. “O. K. Anyway!” She immediately brightened. “Mirror’s just a whiny teenager. Like my younger brothers. Bah! I swear I wasn’t like that when I was a teen,” Ue stage winked. “Nope, I was the model of maturity and usefulness. Just look at me! Only 22 and I’ve already earned enough for my own boat! Say, either of ya two know a good engineer?”

Sollie laughed, "well, she's that, too, but she gets along all right."
"Er...and as for engineers, I'm afraid I can't help you there; I work at the bookstore, so I'm not really familiar with that kind of thing."
And besides, the last one I met is beyond doing any engineering, Sollie added mentally, remembering a former victim.

Krenz slightly grinned when he heard Sollie had worked at the bookstore. Heh, that's interesting he thought to himself.
"No, I don't think I know any engineers, sorry that I can't be of any help to you in that department."

Ue stared curiously at Sollie. “Well do ya or don’t ya? Even a remedial engineer should be able to point me in the right direction. I know vaguely what’s wrong with my O reactor but I can’t fix it myself!”
Ue sighed and slumped dramatically toward Krenz. “Why is she so mean to me?” She walked over to him and slapped his shoulder comradely. “First she says she doesn’t know ya, when ya think ya two do. Then she says she doesn’t know any engineers, but she did.” Ue acted exhausted and hurt, but her eyes were bright and playful as she watched Sollie’s reaction.

Sollie just stared at Ue, agog.
Geez, I thought she was perceptive, but I never imagined she was that perceptive.
She managed to compose herself, but just barely. "W-well, I...we have met before, but we don't really know each other. And as for engineers...I met one once...briefly...but he's dead now. And I'm afraid I haven't met any others. Sorry if I seemed mean, I'm not trying to be.
"Oh, and I don't know if it helps much, but I'm sure we've got books on engineering down at the store, so if you don't have any luck finding an engineer, you could always come and pick up a book."

Krenz kind of smirked a bit again. She'll be surprised once she sees me down at work tomorrow The thought to himself.
"Books are a helpful tool. That's a pretty good idea." Krenz said serenely.

Ue turned at look suspiciously at her ‘comrade’ Krenz. “I got a bunch of ebooks in my ship core, but no amount of holographs will replace actual experience. I could remove the bio-metal heart and destroy Eastern Gate before I realized my mistake, ya know?”
The fountain had finally stilled from the impromptu dance so Ue gently stepped back in the water. Her feet slipped in with hardly a ripple and she walked slowly back toward Sollie, watching the waters surface. “Ya humans are so strange. Got a bookstore on the station when ya can download anything to the screens. Can’t be a very busy place, but I should probably stop by it. Maybe get my Dad a nice antique. Books, jeez. How many languages ya guys display? Earth Common only? The standard government 7? Can’t have Navarri, we don’t trade art…” Ue continued to muse as she wandered past Sollie.

Sollie perked up a bit. Language was her department. "Oh, you'd be surprised," she said, "we might actually have Navarri somewhere...I suppose the methods for obtaining those books were probably a little dubious, though. But we have some in languages that, strictly speaking, don't even exist anymore; we even have one in English.
"And as for patrons, while we don't get many, we do get a lot of scholars. Doing research by books is sort of coming back into fashion now. The old-school approach, as it were."
